A Voice for the Voiceless

The Beginning of a Poet

Teri's journey into poetry began less than 2 years ago. She is a prolific writer, holding a Doctorate in Health Education (Ed.D) from Columbia University. She did her dissertation on Women and Chronic pain where she also told her own story. It was required that wrote in a way that expressed her vulnerability, often in ways that felt naked and raw. This kind of self-exposure gave Teri the courage to write from the deepest parts of her soul shedding all shame and the willingness to bare her inner most feelings. This paved the way for her to write her heart felt poetry. Prior to writing poetry, she wrote inspirational quotes to help uplift and soothe the soul. She also writes of the joys of life intermixed with heartache and struggles. It is her hope that readers find comfort and solace in her words, and to know that they are not alone. Her passion for writing blossomed as she navigated the complexities of life, allowing her to articulate emotions that many struggle to express.
